To Peter, Bishop of Aleria, on Dedicating a Church in Corsica

Gregory to Peter, bishop of Aleria in Corsica. On the island of Corsica, at the place called Nigeunum, on the estate called Cellas Cupias that belongs to the holy Roman church, which by the providence of God we serve, we have ordered a basilica to be founded, with a baptistery, in honor of blessed Peter, prince of the apostles, and of Lawrence the martyr. We therefore urge your fraternity to go at once to that place and, observing the venerable rites of dedication, solemnly consecrate the church and baptistery we have named. Also place there, with reverence, the holy relics you have received.
