To the People of Ravenna, on the Death of Their Bishop
Gregory to the clergy, the leading citizens, and the common people of Ravenna. Having been told of the death of your bishop, we have taken care to entrust the visiting of the bereaved church to our brother and fellow bishop Severus of Ficulum. We have charged him to let no one seize anything that concerns the promotions of the clergy, the revenues, the ornaments, and the services. It is for you to obey his diligent exhortations. According to custom.
