To Maximianus, Bishop of Syracuse, Asking for Stories of Miracles

Gregory to Maximianus, bishop of Syracuse.

My brothers who live with me as intimates urge me by all means to write something brief about the miracles of the fathers done in Italy that we have heard of. For this I greatly need the help of your love, to tell me briefly whatever comes back to your memory and whatever you happen to have known. For I remember your telling me something, which I have now forgotten, about the lord abbot Nonnosus, who was with the lord Anastasius of Pentomi. So I beg you to send me this, or anything else, by letter without delay, unless indeed you are intending to come to me yourself soon.
