To Bishop John, on the Church of Nepi

Gregory to John, and so on.

Since we have laid on our brother and fellow bishop Paulus the work of the visitation of the church of Naples, let your fraternity not shrink from taking on the visitation of the church of Nepi. Then, as the paschal festival requires, whatever the solemnity of divine service calls for may be fully carried out in every respect through your work. Until we can consider what should be done about our brother and fellow bishop, then, let your fraternity strive to show yourself so skillful and watchful in all things that the absence of that bishop is not felt at all.
