Letters
To Eutyches, an Abbot of Constantinople
Leo the bishop to his dearly beloved son Eutyches, presbyter.
He Thanks Him for His Report That the Teaching of Nestorius Is Reviving, and Commends His Zeal
You have informed us by your letter, beloved, that through the activity of certain people the heresy of Nestorius is reviving again. We reply that your concern in this matter has pleased us, since what you have written to us shows your mind. So do not doubt that the Lord, the Founder of the catholic faith, will stand by you in all things. When we have been able to find out more fully whose wickedness is behind this, we must, with God’s help, provide for the complete uprooting of this poisonous growth, which was condemned long ago. God keep you safe, my beloved son. Dated the 1st of June, in the consulship of the illustrious Postumianus and Zeno (in the year 448).
