First Letter to Orsisius

“And when he had spent a few days there, he said to Abbot Theodore, ‘Since the Passover is near, go and visit the brothers as you usually do; and I will do as the Lord directs me.’ And he embraced him and sent him off, having written a letter by him to Abbot Orsisius and the brothers, to this effect:”

I have seen your fellow worker and father of the brothers, Theodore, and in him the master of our father Pachomius. And I rejoiced to see the sons of the church, and they made me glad by their presence. But the Lord is the one who rewards them. As Theodore was about to leave me to go to you, he said to me, “Remember me.” And I said to him, “If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand be forgotten; yes, let my tongue cling to my throat if I do not remember you.”
