Festal Letters
The Seventeenth Festal Letter, for Easter 345
Athanasius, to the presbyters and deacons of Alexandria, and to the beloved brothers: greetings in Christ.
As is our custom, I give you notice about Easter, my beloved, so that you too may give the same notice to the districts of those who live far away, as usual. After this present festival, then, I mean the one on the 20th of the month Pharmuthi, the following Easter Day will be on the seventh day before the Ides of April, the 7th of April, or, as the Alexandrians count, on the 12th of Pharmuthi. So give notice in all those districts that Easter Day will be on the seventh day before the Ides of April, the 7th of April, or by the Alexandrian reckoning on the 12th of Pharmuthi. I pray, my beloved brothers, that you may be in health in Christ.
