A Question About Living Near Our Families
The rule you have given about the kind of work that can be done within the cells is very useful and necessary. We have often proved its value, not only by the example of your holiness, which is modeled on the virtues of the apostles, but by our own experience as well. But it is not clear enough why we should so thoroughly avoid living near our families, something you have not wholly refused to do. For we see you walking blamelessly in the whole way of perfection, and not only living in your own country, but some of you not even having moved far from your own village. Why, then, should something that does not hurt you be thought bad for us?
