Pardon for the Weak, the Kingdom for the Perfect

And just as the word of the gospel lifts the strong to sublime and lofty heights, so it does not let the weak be dragged down to the depths. For it secures the fullness of blessing for the perfect, and brings pardon to those who are overcome through weakness. The law placed those who kept its commands in a kind of middle state between what they would have deserved either way. It cut them off from the condemnation due to those who break it, just as it also kept them away from the glory of the perfect. But how wretched and miserable this is you can see by comparing it with the conditions of this present life. Here it is thought a very poor thing for a man to sweat and toil only to avoid being thought guilty among good men, and not also to be counted rich, honored and famous.
