The Weak Wound Others and Cannot Bear Wrongs

We must also note that it is always the nature of the weak to be quick and ready to hurl reproaches and to sow the seeds of quarrels, while they themselves cannot bear to be touched by the shadow of the slightest wrong. While they ride roughshod over us and fling wanton charges about, they cannot bear even the slightest and most trivial ones themselves. And so, according to the judgment of the elders given above, love cannot last firm and unbroken except among men of the same purpose and goodness. For sooner or later it is sure to be broken, however carefully one of them may guard it.
