Abbot Abraham and the Nursing Mother
Why should I also mention the deeds of Abbot Abraham, who was nicknamed Haplous, that is, the Simple, because of the simplicity and innocence of his life? This man had gone from the desert into Egypt for the harvest, in the season of the Fifty Days, when a woman pestered him with tears and prayers. She brought her little child, already wasting away and half dead for lack of milk. He gave her a cup of water to drink, marked with the sign of the cross. When she had drunk it, at once, most wonderfully, her breasts, which until then had been completely dry, flowed with an abundance of milk.
