The Conferences, Conference 8
A Question to Be Held with Reserve
Now the question we have raised does not seem to have been discussed enough, or often, among men, and it is not clear to most people. Because of this, what we put forward may perhaps seem doubtful to some. So we ought to frame our own view, since it does not interfere with faith in the Trinity, in such a way that it may be counted among those things that are to be held doubtfully. Yet these things rest not on mere opinions, of the kind usually given to guesses and conjectures, but on clear proof from Scripture.
