How Demons Prepare Their Way into the Body

It is clear, then, that unclean spirits cannot make their way into the bodies of those they are going to seize in any other way than by first taking possession of their minds and thoughts. When they have robbed them of the fear and remembrance of God and of spiritual meditation, they boldly advance on them as on men stripped of all protection and of God’s safeguard, who can easily be bound. Then they take up their dwelling in them as in a possession handed over to them.
