Supper on Feast Days Without a Psalm

Lastly, on those days, that is, on Saturday and Sunday, and on holy days, when it is usual for both dinner and supper to be provided for the brothers, no Psalm is said in the evening, either when they come to supper or when they rise from it. It is otherwise at their ordinary dinner and at the canonical meal on fast days, which the customary Psalms usually come before and after. Instead they simply say a plain prayer and come to supper, and when they rise from it they close again with prayer alone. For this meal is something out of the ordinary among the monks. Not all of them are obliged to come to it; it is only for visitors who have come to see the brothers, and for those whom bodily weakness or their own inclination invites to it.
