Two Classes of Faults, Four Ways of Working

These faults, then, fall into two classes. Either they are natural to us, like gluttony, or they arise from outside our nature, like greed. But they act on us in four ways. Some cannot be carried through without an act of the flesh, like gluttony and sexual immorality. Some can be completed without any bodily act, like pride and empty glory. Some find the causes that stir them up outside us, like greed and anger. Others are roused by feelings within, like acedia and dejection.
