The Institutes, Book 2
No Kneeling from Saturday Evening to Sunday Evening
This, too, we ought to know: from the evening of Saturday that comes before Sunday until the following evening, the Egyptians never kneel, nor from Easter to Pentecost. Nor do they keep a rule of fasting at these times. The reason for this will be explained in its proper place in the Conferences of the Elders, if the Lord permits. For now we only mean to run through the reasons very briefly, so that our book does not exceed its proper limits and become tiresome or burdensome to the reader.
