Scripture Against Empty Glory

So the apostle warns us: “Do not be eager for empty glory.” And the Lord, rebuking the Pharisees, says, “How can you believe, who receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from God alone?” The blessed David too speaks of these with a threat: “For God has scattered the bones of those who please men.”
