The One Good Use of Anger

We have, it must be admitted, one use of anger that has been excellently planted in us, and for this alone it is useful and profitable for us to let it in: namely, when we are indignant and rage against the lustful stirrings of our heart, and are vexed that things we would be ashamed to do or say before men have risen up in the hidden places of our heart. For we tremble at the presence of the angels and of God himself, who pervades all things everywhere, and we fear with the utmost dread the eye of him from whom the secrets of our hearts cannot possibly be hidden.
