Letter 46: Maximus and the Other Confessors to Cyprian, About Their Return from Schism
Peace Made with Cornelius
Maximus, Urbanus, Sidonius, and Macarius, to Cyprian their brother: greetings.
We are certain, dearest brother, that you too are rejoicing along with us, and just as heartily. We took counsel together; and with the good of the church and its peace before us above everything else, we let every other question drop and left it all to God to judge. So we have made peace with Cornelius our overseer, and with the whole clergy as well.
You should be in no doubt, from this letter of ours, that it was done to the joy of the whole church, and even with the eager affection of the brothers.
We pray, dearest brother, that you may keep well for many years to come.
