To Apella
When I undertook the direction of the see of Cyrrhus, I brought to it from every direction men who practiced the necessary crafts, and besides this I persuaded skilled physicians to live there. One of these is the reverend presbyter Peter, who practices his profession wisely and adorns it by his character. Since my departure several have left the city, and Peter too has decided to leave. Under these circumstances I beg your excellency to give him your kind care. He is well able to attend to the sick and to wage war on their ailments.
