I have recently received your excellency’s letter. I thank you for the zeal you have shown on my behalf, and I pray the God of all to guard the good things you have, to add further gifts to them, and to grant you the enjoyment of the blessings to come, which last forever. I believe he hears the prayer even of those who have been sentenced to confinement, and all the more when it is for the sake of his divine teaching that they are suffering this apparent disgrace. I am writing by the very devout bishops, and I ask that they may meet with your kind care.
