Theodotus, Bishop of Antioch

Theodosius restored the relics of the great light of the world to the city that had mourned his loss so deeply. These events, however, happened later.

Innocent, the excellent bishop of Rome, was succeeded by Boniface, Boniface by Zosimus, and Zosimus by Celestine. At Jerusalem, after the admirable John, the care of the church was entrusted to Praylius, a man worthy of his name. At Antioch, after the divine Alexander, Theodotus succeeded to the headship of the church. He was the pearl of purity, a man of outstanding meekness and of strict regularity of life. He received the sect of Apollinarius into fellowship with the rest of the sheep, at the earnest request of its members to be united with the flock. Many of them, however, still bore the marks of their former unsoundness.
