Jerome
Donatus, Founder of a Heresy
Donatus, from whom the Donatists arose in Africa in the reigns of the emperors Constantine and Constantius, claimed that during the persecution the orthodox had handed over the Scriptures to the pagans. By his persuasiveness he deceived almost all of Africa, and especially Numidia. Many of his works relating to his heresy are still in existence, among them On the Holy Spirit, a work that is Arian in its teaching.
