Malchion the Presbyter

Malchion, the highly gifted presbyter of the church at Antioch, who had taught rhetoric with great success in the same city, held a debate with Paul of Samosata, who as bishop of the church at Antioch had brought in the teaching of Artemon, and the debate was taken down by shorthand writers. This dialogue still survives, and so does a long letter written by him on behalf of the council and addressed to Dionysius and Maximus, bishops of Rome and Alexandria. He flourished in the reign of Claudius and Aurelian.
