Honoratus the Bishop

Honoratus, bishop of Constantina in Africa, wrote a letter to one Arcadius, who had been exiled to Africa by King Genseric for confessing the catholic faith. This letter urged him to endure hardship for Christ. It was fortified with recent examples and illustrations from Scripture, showing that perseverance in confessing the faith not only cleanses past sins but also wins the blessing of martyrdom. [a]
