Gennadius the Bishop

Gennadius, patriarch of the church of Constantinople, a man brilliant in speech and of strong talent, was so richly equipped by his reading of the ancients that he was able to explain the whole of the prophet Daniel, commenting on every word. [a] He also composed many homilies. He died while the elder Leo was emperor.
