Gennadius
Cyrus the Monk
Cyrus, an Alexandrian by birth and a physician by profession, first a philosopher and then a monk, and a skilled speaker, at first wrote elegantly and powerfully against Nestorius. But afterward, since he began to attack him too intemperately and dealt in syllogisms rather than in Scripture, he began to foster the Timothean teaching. In the end he refused to accept the decree of the Council of Chalcedon, and did not think that the teaching that the Son of God, after the incarnation, comprised two natures was to be accepted.
