Gennadius
Eucherius the Bishop
Eucherius, bishop of the church at Lyons, wrote to his relative Valerian a single letter On Contempt for the World and for Worldly Philosophy, written in a style that shows sound learning and reasoning. He also wrote for his sons Salonius and Veranius, who afterward became bishops, a discussion On Certain Obscure Passages of the Holy Scriptures. Besides this, he revised and condensed certain works of Saint Cassian and compressed them into one volume, and he wrote other works suited to the pursuits of the church and of monks. He died in the reign of Valentinian and Marcian.
