Vigilantius the Presbyter

Vigilantius, a native of Gaul, had charge of the church of Barcelona. He too wrote with some zeal for religion. But he was overcome by the desire for human praise and presumed beyond his strength. He was a man of polished speech but not trained in the meaning of the Scriptures, and he explained the vision of Daniel in a perverted sense and said other frivolous things, which must be mentioned in a catalog of heretics. The blessed Jerome the presbyter also answered him.
