Gennadius
Helvidius
Helvidius, a disciple of Auxentius and an imitator of Symmachus, wrote with zeal for religion, it is true, but not according to knowledge. His book was polished neither in language nor in reasoning. In it he tried so hard to twist the meaning of the Holy Scriptures to suit his own perverse views that he dared to claim, on their testimony, that Joseph and Mary had children after the birth of our Lord, and that these were the ones called the brothers of the Lord. In answer to his perverseness Jerome published a book against him, well filled with proofs from Scripture.
