Nicetas the Bishop

Nicetas, bishop of the city of Remesiana, composed six books of Instruction for New Converts in simple and clear language. The first of these contains How Candidates Who Seek to Obtain the Grace of Baptism Ought to Act. The second is On the Errors of Relationship, in which he tells how, not long before his own time, a certain Melodius, the head of a household, was placed among the gods by the pagans because of his generosity, and Garadius, a peasant, because of his bravery. The third book is On Faith in One Sovereign, the fourth Against Genealogy, the fifth On the Creed, and the sixth On the Sacrifice of the Passover Lamb. He also addressed a work To the Fallen Virgin, a spur to amendment for all who have fallen.
