Macrobius the Presbyter

Macrobius the presbyter, as I learned from the writings of Optatus, likewise became afterward the secret bishop of the Donatists at Rome. While he was still a presbyter in the church of God, he wrote a work To Confessors and Virgins. It is a work of moral teaching, but of very necessary doctrine as well, and it is strengthened with sayings well suited to preserving chastity. He was distinguished first in our party in Africa, and afterward in his own, that is, among the Donatists or Montanists at Rome.
