Lives of Illustrious Men

Jerome

Tiberianus

Tiberianus of Baetica, answering a suggestion that he shared the heresy of Priscillian, wrote a defense in pompous, patchwork language. But after the death of his friends, worn down by the weariness of exile, he changed his mind. As it is written in Holy Scripture, “the dog returned to his vomit”: he married a nun, a virgin dedicated to Christ.
