Jerome
Priscillian the Bishop
Priscillian, bishop of Avila, belonged to the party of Hydatius and Ithacius, and he was put to death at Trier by the usurper Maximus. He published many short writings, some of which have reached us. Some still accuse him of being tainted with Gnosticism, that is, with the heresy of Basilides or of Mark, about whom Irenaeus writes, while his defenders maintain that he held no such views at all.
