Sardica, Latin Canon 12: Bishops Who Have Not Heard the Decree

Canon 12 of the Latin text, which stands after Canon 20. Bishop Hosius said: “But some discretion is needed here, dearly beloved brothers, in case some bishops come to the cities on the highway still unaware of what has been decreed in the council. So the bishop of such a city ought to warn the bishop who arrives, and instruct him to send his deacon on from that place. Once he has been warned, however, he must himself go back to his own diocese.” [a]
