Release for the Exiles on the Islands

“Furthermore, it is our command that all those who have been held on the islands against their will should have the benefit of this present measure. In this way those who until now have been shut in by rugged mountains and the surrounding barrier of the sea may be set free from that gloomy and desolate loneliness, and fulfill their dearest wish by seeing again those they love most. Those, too, who have dragged out a miserable life in the midst of abject and wretched squalor may welcome their restoration as an unexpected gain, put away all anxious thoughts from now on, and live their lives with us free from all fear. For that anyone could live in fear under our government, when we boast and believe ourselves to be the servants of God, would surely be a most extraordinary thing even to hear of, and quite beyond belief. Our mission is to set right the errors of the others.
