Bishops and a Church Tent for the Persian Campaign

It is also worth recording that about the time I am now writing of, the emperor heard of an uprising of some barbarians in the East. He remarked that victory over this enemy was still in store for him, and he decided on an expedition against the Persians. So he at once set his forces in motion, and at the same time told the bishops who happened to be at his court of his planned march. Some of them he thought it right to take with him as companions, and as helpers he needed in the service of God. They for their part gladly declared that they were willing to go with him. They said they had no wish to leave him, and promised to fight with him and for him by praying to God on his behalf. Delighted with this answer to his request, he explained his planned route to them. After this he had a splendid tent made for his own use in the coming war, shaped like a church. In it he meant to join the bishops in offering prayers to the God from whom every victory comes.
