Book 4
Constantine Seeks the Prayers of Godly Men
So the nations of the world were everywhere steered, as it were, by the skill of a single pilot, and accepted the government of the one who ruled as God’s servant. The peace of the Roman empire went on undisturbed, and all classes of his subjects enjoyed a quiet and restful life. He not only begged God’s help and favor himself, but also charged the leaders of the churches to offer petitions on his behalf.
