Book 2
The Jews of Diocaesarea
About the same time another internal uprising broke out in the East. The Jews who lived in Diocaesarea in Palestine took up arms against the Romans and began to plunder the places around them. But Gallus, who was also called Constantius, and whom the emperor had made Caesar and sent into the East, sent an army against them and defeated them completely. After this he ordered their city of Diocaesarea to be razed to the ground.
