Book 7
The Bishops of Antioch and Rome
During this period, on the death of Flavian, Porphyry received the office of bishop of Antioch, and after him Alexander was set over that church. At Rome, after Damasus had held that bishopric for eighteen years, Siricius succeeded him. When Siricius had presided there for fifteen years, Anastasius governed the church for three years, and after Anastasius, Innocent was raised to the same see. He was the first to persecute the Novatians at Rome, and he took many of their churches away from them.
