Believe There Is One God

First of all, believe that there is one God, who created all things and set them in order, and who brought everything into being out of what did not exist. He contains all things, and he alone cannot be contained. So trust him, and fear him; and since you fear him, practice self-control. Keep these things, and you will throw every kind of wickedness away from yourself and put on every virtue of righteousness, and you will live to God — if you keep this command. [a]
