Where the Apostles Preached

Such was the state of the Jews. Meanwhile the holy apostles and disciples of our Savior had been scattered over the whole world. “Thomas, as tradition holds, was allotted Parthia; Andrew, Scythia; John, Asia; after staying on among its people at Ephesus, he died. Peter seems to have preached in Pontus, Galatia, Bithynia, Cappadocia and Asia to the Jews of the dispersion. At the end he came to Rome and was crucified head downward, for he himself asked to suffer in that way. What need is there to speak of Paul, who fully preached the good news of Christ from Jerusalem to Illyricum, and afterward was martyred in Rome under Nero?” These are Origen’s very words, in the third volume of his commentary on Genesis.
