The Festal Letters
Besides the letters already mentioned, Dionysius also composed at this time the Festal Letters that are still in circulation, in which he speaks of the Passover feast in a more solemn, festive style. He addressed one of these to Flavius, and another to Domitius and Didymus. In that one he also sets out an eight-year cycle, arguing that the Passover feast ought not to be kept at any time other than after the spring equinox. Besides these he wrote another letter to his fellow presbyters in Alexandria, and various others to different people as well, and these while the persecution was still going on.
