The Church History, Book 7

The Teaching of Sabellius

In the same letter he also gives notice about the heretics who followed Sabellius, as they were coming to the fore in his time, and says this: “Concerning the doctrine now stirred up at Ptolemais in the Pentapolis: it is impious and full of blasphemy against the Almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ; full of unbelief about his only Son, the firstborn of all creation, the Word who became man; and blind to the Holy Spirit. Since documents from both sides, and brothers ready to argue the matter, came to me, I wrote some letters, setting out the subject as instructively as I could with God’s help. I am sending you copies of them.”
