The Church History, Book 6
Narcissus Returns
Since Narcissus had withdrawn and no one knew at all where he was, the heads of the neighboring churches decided to proceed to the ordination of another bishop. His name was Dius. After he had presided a short time, Germanion succeeded him, and Gordius succeeded Germanion. In Gordius’s time Narcissus appeared from somewhere, as if come back to life, and the brothers called on him again to take the leadership. All admired him still more for his withdrawal and his philosophy, and above all for the vengeance God had counted him worthy of.
