The Church History, Book 6
Clement of Alexandria
Clement, who had succeeded Pantaenus, was at that time in charge of the instruction in the faith at Alexandria, so that Origen too was one of his students. In composing his work called the Stromateis, Clement sets out a chronology in the first book and brings the dates down to the death of Commodus. So it is clear that he labored on that work under Severus, whose times the present account records.
