Adriaen Ol, in the Year 1569
About the year 1569 a brother named Adriaen Ol was imprisoned at Armentiers, in Flanders, for the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus. Since no temptation or threat the papists inflicted on him could make him apostatize, but he remained faithful to his God, he was condemned by those bloodthirsty men. And so he was not put to death at that place, for the testimony of Jesus, having offered up his corruptible body in great steadfastness for a sweet-smelling savor to God.
To this Adriaen Ol, Jacob the Chandler wrote his nineteenth letter, for comfort in his imprisonment.
