JOOST GOETHALS, ROELANDT AND PIETER STAYERT, JANNEKEN ROELANDS AND JANNEKEN DE JONCKHEERE, IN THE YEAR 1569

In the year 1569, at Ghent, in Flanders, three brothers and two sisters were arrested for the faith, namely, Joost Goethals, Roelandt and Pieter Stayert, Janneken Roelands and Janneken de Jonckheere. These had to withstand many examinations, trials and temptations, but remained valiant in all of it to death, so that they were tried like gold in the fire; and what they had built on the cornerstone Christ did not fail. Therefore, having been faithful here over a few things, they will be made rulers with the good and faithful servant over many things, and will enter into heaven into the joy of their Lord. Matthew 25, verse 23.
