Hans den Duytsch, in the Year 1558

About this time a brother named Hans den Duytsch was also arrested at Antwerp; he freely confessed his faith, and would hold firmly to it; for he chose rather to die a temporal death for the truth, and so gain eternal life, than to buy a short, wicked life with everlasting death. They had him beheaded in the prison, after which, like madmen, they threw his body into the Scheldt.
