Christian Executed with the Sword

In the year 1555, a brother named Christian was arrested in Bavaria and taken to Worms. Although he had been in the church only a short time, he nevertheless faithfully held to the divine truth which he had embraced and confessed, and kept firmly until death what he had promised God in the covenant of his Christian baptism; and through divine power and strength he testified to the faith with his blood. He was executed with the sword at Worms. Thus he fought a good fight even to death, strove for the truth, safely finished his course, and refused to be led astray, preferring a valiant death to a shameful life. Hence the crown of righteousness is promised to him, which the Lord will give him at the last day, and to all those who love His appearing. Second Timothy 4, verse 8.
